I do not spiled my discus by adjusting the ph and hardness. I don't even age the tap water. My ph range 7.2 to 7.5 and I believe my tap water is not soft at all. As long as I keep the environment clean, the discus stay healthy. In addition, I clean my filter every 5 to 6 month. I use sponge for the prefilter, so the wastes are not going inside the filter. I only wash the prefilter sponge once a week.
